Conservation
is a Human
Issue
(Saving Salamanders
is a Perk)
Protecting lands, water, and wildlife is bigger than biodiversity: it protects our health, our happiness, and our bottom line.
A Quarter Century of Fighting for Forever
Since 1999, it’s been our mission to bring wild Alabama back to its people by nourishing grassroots movements, educating and registering voters, and holding lawmakers accountable for protecting the state we love. We’ll always back community clean-ups, but most of our work happens at the policy level to create and enact change that directly benefits Alabamians’ health, wellness, and wallets.
It’s no surprise to Alabamians, but our state ranks 4th in the nation for biodiversity. We are sweet home to 660,000 acres of public forests, 132,000 miles of rivers and streams, and 53 miles of gulf coast. These resources provide enjoyment and entertainment for Alabamians and tourists, but they also feed into important factors such as water safety and affordable utilities.
So whether you’re interested in protecting public land to hike or hunt, fishing one of our 17 major river systems and actually being able to eat your catch, or just receiving an affordable monthly electric bill, conservation is for you.

Conservation Alabama Foundation
Conservation Alabama Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization separate from Conservation Alabama with its own mission, programs, and board of directors. As a sister organization to Conservation Alabama, Conservation Alabama Foundation engages Alabamians in our long-shared values of protecting our land, water, and wildlife, and the health of our communities. We do this by encouraging people to vote, cultivating conservation leaders, and mobilizing citizens to fight for responsible public policies.
Donating directly to Conservation Alabama is the quickest way to make a difference today, but our foundation can also be a powerful tool to provide a tax-deductible option for some donors.
