When is the special election?

Alabamians will go to the polls to elect our next U.S. Senator on Tuesday, December 12.

When is the registration deadline?

Monday, November 27.

Who can vote?

To register to vote, you must be a United States citizen living in Alabama. If you will be 18 on or before Election Day, you may register - even if you turn 18 after the registration deadline.

If you will be outside your county on Election Day, or if you have an illness or disability that prevents you from going to the polls, you may apply for an absentee ballot by clicking here.

The last day to request an absentee ballot is Thursday, December 7. Absentee ballot applications can be found here.

Polls will be open from 7am to 7pm on Election Day.

what's on the ballot?

Sample ballots can be found on the Secretary of State's website. While most counties will only be voting for the U.S. Senate seat, voters in Baldwin, Geneva, Lamar, Lowndes, Madison, Marengo, Tallapoosa, and Washington Counties have additional items on the ballot.

what do i need to bring to the polling place?

Alabama requires Voter ID, meaning you will need to present a valid photo identification to be able to vote. This includes an Alabama driver's license, an Alabama nondriver identification card, an Alabama photo voter identification card, a U.S. passport, a military or government identification card, a student photo identification card issued by a school located in Alabama, or a tribal photo identification card.
